We are excited that you have decided to apply to Elementary Education. All of the information you need to know is contained on this page including how to be cleared through the Office of Teacher Education as well instructions for when and where to submit your application and what is required for the submission.

Upcoming deadlines for application:

Four year elementary education program (BSE)

Five year elementary education program (MAT)

How do I apply?

WARNING! There are TWO parts with their own forms or applications. Both parts must be completed in their entirety. It is important that you follow directions carefully. Failure to complete both parts of the application process can result in admission to the program being delayed or denied.

Part 1. Submit your intent to apply to the Elementary Education Program

Part 2. Complete application and payment of 100.00 fee for Office of Teacher Education Clearance

Office of Teacher Education provides vital support to you as you progress through your teacher preparation program. We provide the LiveScan fingerprints for your background checks (you are responsible for other background check fees for Arkansas State Police and DHS Central Registry checks.) We also provide your portfolio software and Praxis preparation materials for content tests required for licensure. Clearance from the Office of Teacher Educations means you have approved background checks and all basic skills scores required.

FAQ's About OTE Clearance:

These types of background checks are not for the Arkansas Department of Education - if you still think you may have completed an ADE background check - let us know and we can check the AELS database.

Notary services can be found at most banks and several offices on campus. Most students use the notary in the Student Union's Treasurer's Office or their local bank. Please let us know if you have difficulty finding a notary.

We recommend the Walmart on campus but most grocery stores and banks sell money orders.

Most scores we can access through UA Connect - or through Praxis directly as long as you share them with the University. If you are a transfer student you will have to provide them to us directly.

Part 3: If part 1 & 2 are complete, you will be asked to schedule an interview. You will need to be watching for emails and reading everything carefully. Communicate with your advisor if you have questions or if anything changes in your academic plans. We recommend creating a folder and saving all items to that folder for future reference!
