The University of Arkansas offers programs that lead to licensure in a variety of grade levels and subject areas. Regulations governing the licensure of teachers in Arkansas are issued by the Arkansas Board of Education. Licensure rules and regulations are always subject to change due to current legislative or state departmental actions.
Upon posting of the student's degree and receipt of all required materials, completed application packets are sent directly to the Arkansas Department of Education by the Office of Field Placement and Licensure. ADE will issue a teaching license to the applicant approximately two weeks after receipt of the appropriate documents. Applicants can look up the status of their teaching license in the Arkansas Educator Licensure System here: Arkansas Educator License Systems (AELS).
New! The information below applies to candidates in all teacher education programs. Information about the licensure process and various topics pertaining to licensure will be distributed beginning September 1, 2017 via a series of emails throughout the student teaching semester or academic year.
